Due to its powerful detergent activity and low foam property Finocon 10X advantageously replaces conventional scouring surfactants employed in batchwise and continuous preparation processes. Finocon 10X allows significant improvement in productivity. It is particularly useful in single-stage combined desize/scour/bleach operations for woven and knitted fabrics, terry-towelling and yarn packages.
On polyester –based fabrics, removal of synthetic sizing agents (especially acrylates which are used to facilitate the weaving operation on water-jet looms) pose a major problem. Finocon 10X expeditiously cleans out such polymers in short treatment times. |

Combined Scouring and dyeing of Polyester
FINOCON 4X is a specially developed scouring agent which can be incorporated during the dyeing of polyester fibre and yarn. It is effective degreasing agent and detergent which is stable under normal disperse dyeing conditions. It does not adversely affect the rate of dyeing or the yield.
Due to its unique chemical composition, the spin oil residues are removed completely as well as the insoluble impurities are kept in fine dispersion which can be easily discharged at the end of dyeing. This results into shorter process with brighter shades and better spinnability.
In the dyeing of polyester fibre yarn and fabric in conventional as well as in rapid dyeing machines (MLR 1 : 5 to 1 : 10) |
| |
| |
Set the bath at 60 – 700C and add |
|
0.5 – 1.0 g / l FINOCON 4X |
|
|
|
| |
run for 5 minutes and then add |
|
0.5 – 1.0 g / l FINOCON DFT Liquid
2.0 g / l FINOCON PBI Liquid
pH 4.5 – 5.5 |
|
| |
run for 5 minutes and then add predispersed dyestuff and continue dyeing as usual.
Since FINOCON 4X has a cleaning effect on the material as well as on the machine in subsequent reduction clearing the quantity of caustic and hydrosulphite can be reduced without affecting the final results. |

Technical notes on application
Amount required
Removal of grease, oil metal amnd graphite-containing impurities
Stain removal
Impurities with a high grease or oil contents should be treated locally before scouring with either undiluted Finocon EWN or a 1:1-1.5 aqueous solution. If metallic impurities and salts that cause hard water are present. It is advisable to add a suitable chelating agent. After stain removal the goods are scoured with an addition of 1.5-2% Finocon EWN |
| |
|
| |
Impregnating process:
It is more economical to treat long yardages of badly soiled piece goods whatever the type of of fibre yan impregnating process.
Pad the goods with 20-40 g/l
Finocon EWN
After batching for 12-24 h the impurities can be washed out adding a detergent.
Special scouring processes:
Woven and knitted goods and curtains containing metallic impurities
Jig, package unit or winch beck:
Liquor ratio 1:5-1:10
1.5-2 g/l Finocon EWN
1.3-5 g/l Oxalic acid
1.5-2 g/l Chelating agent
Liquor ratio 1: 25
0.5-1 g/l Finocon EWN
0.2-3 g/l oxalic acid
0.1-2 g/l chelating agent
30-45 min at 50-700C
Rinse
Neutralise
Pre-setting:
When pre-setting grease goods in the kier or continuous crabbing machine 0.5-1g/l Finocon EWN prevents caking of lubricants sizes and other impurities.
PES/WO goods (lose stock, tops yarn) that have been prescoured with Finocon EWN
Yarn scouring :
Yarn is scoured at 45-800C with 0.25-3 g/l Finocon EWN depending on the material, type of yarn, equipment and pH.
Removal of Lubricants that are difficult to wash out
Depending on the melting point of paraffin products and waxes, treatement temperatures of 70-900C may be necessary to remove such products from knit goods.
Cellulosics Enzymatic desizing:

- In kier boiling -
Apply 0.25 – 0.5% (on weight of goods.)
- In jig / open back scouring of cellulosic, synthetic and blended goods -
Apply 1 – 2 g / l.
- In soaping of dyed goods –
Apply 1 g / l
Addition of equal quantity of soda ash and a treatment temperature of 500C or above would enhance results in the above applications.

Common Slat, Glauber’s Salt or Sodium Bicarbonate may be used as Electrolyte it is preferable to employ Sodium Bicarbonate in case of mild steel units to avoid corrosion. In case of Woollen Spinning where a final grease content of 1 – 2% is permissible, the third scouring bowl may be omitted. In order to maintain consistent scouring efficiency, it is a common practice to replenish the bowls every half hour by regular additions of the scouring agents – generally for every 1000 parts of wool throughput, addition made is 1 part Finocon L.D.Paste + 5 to 10 parts Soda Ash in Bowl 1, 2 – 4 parts of Finocon L.D. Paste in Bowl 2, and 1 – 2 parts Finocon L.D. Paste in Bowl 3.

For Hosiery Yarns, an addition of 5 g / l Sodium bicarbonate in the first 2 bowls is usually made to provide the necessary electrolyte. Replenishment of scouring agents is effected by addition of approx. 25% of the initial charge in each bowl for every 1000 parts of yarn scoured.
- Scouring of Worsted and Woollen piecegoods in rotary dolly washer. A two-bath process is preferably employed maintaining a liquor to-goods ration of 2 or 3 : 1.
For Worsteds the first bath is made up of 1 – 2% L.D. + 1 – 2% Soda Ash (on the weight of goods), the pieces run for 20 – 30 mins. at 40 – 500C, rinsed for 15 minutes in water at the same temperature and run in a fresh liquor containing 1 – 2% L.D. at 45 – 500C for 20 minutes before finally rinsing –off. For Worsteds containing coloured yarn, a more alkaline scour is recommended, employing 3 –6 % Finocon L.D. Paste + 8 – 10 Soda Ash, to neutralise acid present in the dyed yarn while maintaining scouring efficiency.
For Woollen piecegoods, higher quantities of Soda Ash are required and consequently, scouring temperatures are kept lower. The pieces are run is a Soda Ash liquor of 4 – 5 Be (6 – 8 Tw) for 30 minutes at 25 – 300C, rinsed for 15 minutes at 40 –450C and run in a second bath of 2 Be (3 Tw) Soda Ash with 1% Finocon L.D. Paste (on the weight of goods for 20 – 30 minutes at 40 – 450C. The pieces are then rinsed. If a subsequent milling is required, the pieces are allowed to cool in the second bath, squeezed without rinsing and milled to width in a milling machine with a solution containing 0.6 Kg. in 10 litres of water for each piece. After miling, the pieces are washed off in the dolly at 40 – 450C for 15 minutes ( with small addition of Finocon L.D. Paste to promote a steady lather) and finally rinsed.

| 1) |
As a preparation agent for carpet wool yarn-in continuous tape machines where the yarn hanks pass through 3 – 6 tanks, the first scouring bath is set at 45 to 450C with 3 to 5 parts Finoclean SW per 1000 parts of water, and addition of pre-dissolved Finolcean SW is made at regular intervals depending on the oily matter/soil present in the particular grade of wool. Generally, a consumption level of 2 – 4% of the detergent is required on the weight to the wool throughput for satisfactory cleaning. Soda ash or small additions of Finoclean SW may also be made to improve cleaning efficiency in the subsequent tanks; however, soda ash is avoided as far as possible to prevent undue harsh feel in the washed wool. |
| |
| 2) |
As a preparation agent for cellulose goods and as a soaping-off detergent 1 – 2 parts of Finoclean SW is added to 1000 parts of the treatment liquor. |
